Butter-Making Day is about a young girl named Susan and her family on their 1950s farm in Atchison County, Kansas. Just like today, farming then was a lifestyle that required a lot of work and dedication.
Susan loved her life on the farm. In addition to working the land, her family raised cattle and chickens. Life wasn't easy, but they all worked together to prosper the best they could. Because of the process, butter-making day was a special event on the farm, and the entire family participated.
