This book is an absolute must-read if your Irish ancestors immigrated to America during the famine years! Even more so if they fought in the Civil War or were among the homestead settlers of the plains.
Read the life story of Henry Kearney, an Irish orphan, from his birth and time in a workhouse to a steeplechase jockey, ocean passage on a famine ship, Confederate service in the Civil War, finding true love, and finally homesteading in Nebraska in the 1880s and 1890s.
