Five Baptisms is written by Brian in chronological order from:
birth in a conservative, small-town Methodist church
to "falling away"
to joining an ultra-conservative evangelical megachurch
to becoming Catholic
back to Methodist
then Episcopal,
then to becoming a None,
along the way being baptized four times
with his deconstruction being the fifth.
Five Baptisms contains many specific pop culture references of his life in the 80s and 90s, so that many Gen-Xers and older Millennials will be able to make connections to those different aspects.
