Winter is full of surprises-especially when five bright red cardinals take flight.
As the curious birds explore a snowy forest, they encounter a variety of woodland animals along the way. With each new page, readers can count the growing number of cardinals, observe the animals they meet, and listen for the familiar cardinal call of "cheer-a-lee!"
This engaging counting story introduces early number concepts while inviting children to notice patterns, movement, and the beauty of the winter landscape. Along the journey, young readers also discover how new friendships and different perspectives help build a welcoming community.
Designed with accessibility in mind, Five Curious Cardinals features high-contrast artwork, predictable visual patterns, and supportive image descriptions to help a wide range of learners participate in the story, including children with visual impairments such as Cortical Visual Impairment.
Warm, playful, and interactive, this winter counting adventure encourages children to explore nature, practice early math skills, and celebrate the joy of discovering new friends.
