Gems capture young imaginations with their fancy shapes and vibrant colors. Beginning readers hone their phonics skills while learning how people cut and polish gems to turn them into jewelry. As they practice decoding words with soft c and soft g, readers gain nonfiction knowledge. Every Stairway Decodables book combines multiple aspects of the Science of Reading to support small group instruction, independent reading, and reading practice at home.
