by Allan Zullo (Author)

A moving narrative nonfiction book about the heroes that acted on September 11th, 2001 to save and protect lives.

What makes a hero?

Captain Jay Jonas leads his team of firefighters into the burning World Trade Center in New York City, determined to save as many people as possible from terrible conditions.

Colonel Philip McNair guides coworkers through thick smoke out of their flaming Pentagon building near Washington, DC, after terrorists slam a plane into it. Passengers on a hijacked airplane high above Pennsylvania make a brave and difficult decision that they hope might save lives on the ground.

These are some of the courageous Americans who faced danger on September 11, 2001, and responded with the same question: How can I help?

Author and journalist Allan Zullo shares the heartwrenching true stories of firefighters, medical workers, police offers, and other brave heroes that responded to disaster on that fateful day. This updated edition commemorates 25 years since the tragedy of 9/11.
