This book is about a child who thought love looked like hugs, birthday cakes, new clothes, and trips. And it did! But now I know it looks more like washing, ironing, cleaning, paying bills, working hard, forgiving, loving, and sacrificing!
This book is about the "invisible gifts" my parents gave me - it's about the sacrifices they so quietly made. I didn't understand their weight until I became older and perhaps a bit more like them.
I write this now, not as the child who received it, but as the adult who sees and understands some of the cost behind the smile.
