An envelope full of cash, a hypothetical daughter, a carton of steamed dumplings, a horrendous bichon.
New Dark by Matthew Bookin explores the instability of purpose in everyday life and how a search for resolution can often produce further distortion. Across early mornings, abandoned shopping malls, and after-work taquerias, these ten funny, unsettling and emotionally disorienting stories follow characters shaped by the consequences of living alongside unresolved truths.
"New Dark is mysterious, nostalgic, surprising, creepy and fun, like a Donald Barthelme short story directed by Spike Jonze." - May-Lan Tan, author of Things to Make and Break
