Almost a memoir, the poetry and prose in Resting Bird flies you through Stewart's most memorable life experiences. Reposing on tenuous, sometimes trembling branches, Stewart observes the beauty and resilience of nature inextricably connected to social norms and customs. Not all selections are autobiographical: some will shock you, while others will leave you chuckling, or wiping away a few tears.
