Fear and fantasy fold into 25 squares of compelling prose in Liu's enigmatic, origami portrait of a woman contained.
Sienna Liu grew up in Shanghai. She holds a B.A. in Literature from Duke University. The manuscript of her first novel was shortlisted for the Dzanc Prize for Fiction and longlisted for the Petrichor Prize. She lives, writes, and practices law in London.
"I loved Square so much I feel like I have to invent new superlatives. Liu's extraordinary and innovative use of the prose poem is the most exciting thing I've read in a long time; a way of writing through and into the self, personal and national histories, love and frustration, disaster and revolution, the inner and outer life at once. So generous and shocking and funny and sad. I don't think I'll ever stop re-reading it."
