People once viewed books as cheap entertainment. All that was required was a good book and a pair of glasses (if over forty). A plush hammock in the shade was an added luxury. Today people have neither the time nor the attention span to read a novel. The good news is that reading is like riding a bicycle; the skill will return. Short stories are training wheels for novels. They train the brain for larger projects such as a novel. The Amorous Spotted Slug consists of fifteen short stories in a variety of genres. Despite the similarities to Uncle Joe, they are works of fiction. The best way to read this book is to pick the stories that pique your interest.
