On a quaint vacation to Egg Harbor, New Jersey, I discovered my grandfather's unmarked grave. Kick starting a grand effort to know who he was, I began a search of his life and my own. This mindful and heartfelt tale narrates that long walk. It is told looking from the front steps of the houses I have lived in. From crabbing with my dad and Joe in Connecticut or the night shift at the railroad in Philly, to love letters in Tennessee and chasing bats and launching kids in the Midwest.
