Wit, former consort of the now dead emperor and victim of a usurper's coup d'état, has languished in prison for a decade. Resha, the self-styled "best thief in the world", springs Wit to aid her crew in robbing the usurper blind. Wit's fate - and his freedom - hangs on the success of this motley little crew.
