The retrieving breeds were developed to find and fetch shot game to hand, on land and in water. In The History Of Retrievers, Charles C. Eley traces the breed from its earliest origins to the modern day.
First published in 1921, it draws on early sources to follow the breed's development, its type and character, and the people who shaped it. It follows the Labrador, Flat-Coated and Golden Retrievers and the story of retriever trials.
Long sought after by collectors, this scarce study is restored here in an affordable modern edition for enthusiasts and breed historians.
This edition features:
A detailed history of the retriever from its earliest origins.
