This book is the work of an American historian of Medieval Europe who was surprised to learn that Native Americans had created complex and vibrant cultures in the Southwest during the medieval centuries. The reason turned out to be a consequence of the disciplinary division between History and Archeology. This book is meant to bridge the gap between the disciplines and to introduce more people to a part of the American story that predates the arrival of Europeans.,
