by Bonnie Jacoby (Author)
It all started with a dare.
Taking risks is the only way Diane can prove her strength and ingenuity. She comes from a large laborer family, and her magical ability of finding home will never amount to anything powerful.
Until a dangerous climb goes horribly wrong. A golden dragon responds to Diane's desperate scream and catches her, saving her from certain death.
In secret, Diane communicates with the teen dragon, Laurel, discovering a shared thirst for adventure.
But their friendship is forbidden. Diane doesn't belong to the elite family or have the right magic to become a Dragon Rider. Laurel's curiosity and impulsive nature mean she's a danger to humans.
Diane comes up with the ultimate dare and Laurel accepts.
What if they show their societies that the rules are wrong?
But they aren't the only ones breaking the rules, and soon Diane must determine if their rebellion is proving anything or endangering both their societies.
