In Violet Loves Rondo, young Violet explores her historic Rondo neighborhood in St. Paul, Minnesota, uncovering its rich legacy as a once-thriving center of Black culture and business before it was nearly destroyed by the construction of I-94 in the 1950s. As she learns about Rondo's resilient past and the strong sense of community that endured despite racial injustices, Violet connects with present-day local entrepreneurs working to preserve its legacy. Through these experiences, she comes to understand the importance of honoring her heritage and the enduring power of community solidarity.
