This timeless story is about a young girl's loving and nurturing relationship with Zucchero, the family's donkey and her grandfather, Nonno. It follows a day they spend at the family farm outside the ancient walls of their Italian hill top town. Here they share the dignity and gifts of hard work. Zucchero is the pole star, dependable and indispensable as an affectionate companion, a devoted co-worker, and sometime fearless defender. The story celebrates the important bonds that develop between family, animals, and the natural world.
